What Is SoftWave Therapy?
Softwave is a patented non-invasive shockwave therapy that increases blood flow and promotes the body's natural healing at the cellular level. Shockwave therapy is used to treat all sorts of conditions from chronic pain, and various bony and soft tissue conditions of the spine and extremities! Softwave utilizes unfocused shock waves to spread energy to a larger and deeper area of tissue. SoftWave is the ONLY true unfocused shockwave treatment on the market today.
Shockwave Therapy, or Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (EWST), is a non-invasive treatment that involves the delivery of shockwaves to an injured area to promote healing. The treatment delivers high velocity (3500 MPH) acoustic waves that initiate biological regeneration processes at the cellular level. Treatment involves technology that applies short, frequent, and high intensity bursts of mechanical energy (in the form of a shockwave) into soft-tissue that is injured, scarred, adhesive, painful, or inflamed.
Softwave is currently being utilized by many elite athletes and top-level professional sports teams (LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets, NY Giants, LA Lakers and many more) and many top medical institutions such as the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), Stanford Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic and more. FDA cleared and regarded as very safe with no serious side effects. Non-invasive, no anesthesia needed and no downtime required. How does it work? Upon delivery of 500-1200 number of shocks (depends on the injury area and tolerance for discomfort), SoftWave triggers a cellular response that activates the body's natural healing process. Patients experience the transformative benefits, including:
- Temporary increase in blood flow
- Promotion of angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels)
- Modulation of inflammation
- Activation of resident stem cells
- Restoration of tissue elasticity
- Endogenous growth factor activation

What To Expect
The provider will apply the SoftWave applicator to the skin and deliver shockwaves traveling 3500 MPH to the area for a few minutes. Some patients may experience mild pain or discomfort which is a normal part of the process where the body is recreating inflammatory responses for healing. The treatment sessions typically last 10-15 minutes, depending on the area/body part being treated. After a session, you may experience soreness that can last 2-4 days. You should allow your body time to rest and recover after each session. Restful and uninterrupted sleep is important for the healing process. We recommend no steroids, heating pad or NSAID be utilized for the first 48 hrs of treatment to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.
Is Shockwave Right For You?
- If some or all conservative treatment has failed or plateaued for your chronic pain, or simply want to avoid invasive surgery for your condition.
- Joint and muscle pain from chronic knee pain , shoulder pain from labral or rotator cuff tear, lumbar/cervical disc herniation
- Bony joint arthritic condition in the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, foot and spine.
- Soft tissue injuries and tears such as plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, torn knee meniscu
- Nerve pain from sciatica, peripheral and radiculopathy, and nerve tissue healing.
Rest assured we will be able to determine if you are a candidate for Softwave therapy after reviewing your medical history, test/imaging results, and physical examination. Please bring in any test results such as x-ray or MRI, and related medical records to your appointment.
